What makes it different
An engine built for one thing: honest signal.
Neginato plays through a raw Core Audio HAL output engine — not AVFoundation — so it can hand your DAC the exact bytes in the file, and prove it on screen.
A status bar that tells the truth
An always-visible strip reports what actually reaches the DAC: format, bit depth and source rate, the device's running rate, IO buffer, and color-coded integer / bit-perfect / reliability badges — each with a tooltip and VoiceOver label.
Gapless · integer-first · exclusive
Consecutive same-format tracks cross the boundary render-accurately — no click. Integer-first output when the DAC offers it, opt-in exclusive (hog) mode, and hardware-only volume so passthrough is never touched.
A waveform you can scrub
The Now Playing bar shows a two-tone waveform of the whole track that doubles as a scrub bar — played darker, upcoming lighter — precomputed off the real-time path so it never disturbs playback.
Your library, as a wall of covers
A resizable album-artwork grid with find-and-navigate search (⌘F) that never hides an album, an A-to-Z index, and a SwiftData index so relaunch after the first import is instant — no re-scan.
Internet radio, done cleanly
Two tabs — your own stations by URL, and a searchable directory of thousands of public stations — with the live ICY "now playing" text and the stream's bit-rate in the bar.
Playlists with mosaic art
Create, edit, and reorder playlists — each with an automatic 2×2 mosaic cover from up to four album covers — save the current queue in one step, and import .m3u / .pls.
Optional AI Curation — on your terms
Off by default. Add your own free Google Gemini key and it builds playlists and an "AI Radio" only from tracks already in your library, sending just plain-text titles, artists, and albums — never your audio or artwork.
Proof, not promises. The status strip below the transport shows exactly what's reaching your DAC for the whole session — and it stays honest even when a field is unknown (it degrades to — rather than disappearing).
